Someone who has already participated in the "Malaqi Trail" in Wadi Mujib can give me some tips? Today I called for the Mujib Reserve office to schedule some trails. As the phone call was bad and I am not fluent in English I think I booked a trail that according to what I read later in RCNS website is very difficult for those who have no experience in climbing. Despite the description of the trail not clearly specify the degree of difficulty is writing that "descend waterfall, 20 meters in height, using ropes. " Someone who does not have experience in climbing can participate in this trail without delay or hinder the group? Is it very difficult or hard?
I would imagine you need experience at abseiling (ascending down by rope) and not climbing. | 1
hallo, I'm also looking for some more information about the malaqi trail in jordan. could anyone tell me, how long it takes from the shores of the dead sea up until one reaches wadi mudjib? also I'd like to know, how far it is from the waterfall back to the visitor's centre. thanks! | 2
The Malaqi Trail is the most exciting and difficult of the Mujib Reserve. It takes most people about 8 or 9 hours from start to finish. The going isn't particularly difficult, there's no actual climbing, but there are something like 9 abseiling descents along the waterfalls. You might also need to swim in places. You do certainly need an excellent physical condition, but the guides are perfectly accustomed to people with no abseiling experience. What you DO need and would be unhappy without it, is an excellent head for heights. You can read about the trail on http://www.rscn.org.jo/orgsite/Reserves/MUJIBNATURERESERVE/Trails/tabid/220/Default.aspx | 3
I went to Malaqi trail its wonderful but very hard and sometimes difficult. As Ruth said you need be an excellent physycal condition. The abseiling descent of the big waterfall is the most easy part of the trail. You need to know how to swim very well because some pools are deep and has strong currents. You will need good canyon shoes , protectors for knees and elbows and waterproof bag. | 4
There will probably be less water now than in the spring. It hasn't rained for some eight months. | 5
