Can anyone here give me any info on this, the highest peak in Central America and Guatemala? A web search and site search turned up very little. I understand Quetzaltrekkers and anothre company do 2-day hikes of it for $US75-150 but in my experiance such companies keep a pretty slow pace. Could it be done in a day, and what kind of elevation change and mileage are we talking? Also any thoughs on getting to the trail head and saftey on the trail? I have heard warnings about bandits on other volcanoes, but little or nothing about Tajumulco. Any thoughts or experiances or ideas where I can find more info are appreciated.
