Viroth's Hotel Siem Reap

Country forums / South-East Asia Mainland / Cambodia

Anyone know anything about this place? It supposedly opened in Feb (and I specifically mean the hotel, not the restaurant - I think owned by the same person).

I'm looking for a small, boutiquey hotel in SR, easily within walking distance to the Old Market area...not as expensive as Hotel de la Paix. This place fits the bill, but I've only read one review so far (positive). Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't stayed at Viroth's place, but I had a tour and it looked very nice, very stylish, very boutiquey. Saltwater pool. Roof top jacuzzi and spa. Brand new, in the Wat Bo area within a 5 minute walk of the Old market. Prices start at around $60, far less than de la Paix. It's owned by the same guy that owns Viroth's restaurant and if the restaurant is any indication, the hotel will be very well managed.

Viroth's Hotel is well located and I think the same as 4# if it is ran the same as their restaurant it will be managed well. It is not in the same class as Hotel Del a Paix though but it does look nice.

It is in a good walking distance to the Old market and to their restaurant.

2# Siem Reap is only a small town so location does not matter that much as the Old market is only a short tuk tuk ride from most places.

Hi Smart cookie!

I notice that in all your posts you mention vayama.com as a place to get Vietnam Airlines Online booking. However, when I compare their prices to the prices advertised by Vietnam Air, they appear to be very expensive, sometimes twice the fare Vietnam Air quotes. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the info everyone - I will check out Auberge Mont Royal as well as the Viroth's website. I was also looking into the FCC, but I'd like to be a little closer to the Old Market area.

7# Viroth's is pretty close to Old market but if you want to be closer try Molly Malones guesthouse or Ta Prohm Hotel which are more less on the Old market.

Bopha Angkor would be a good choice as well which is not far from Viroth's hotel and is not far from Old Market as well.

Not sure why so many people want to be so near the Old market though?

Can't speak for anyone else, but my rationale is that I'd like to be slightly removed from Old Market so noise wouldn't be a problem. But I'd like to be close enough to walk comfortably to the bars, shops and restaurants after touring the temples.

I know tuk-tuks are easily available, but I like the freedom of walking. And I know it's going to be hot! So a short walk would be preferable.

Is the town so small that this shouldn't be a problem at most hotels? If I'm worrying over nothing, feel free to let me know. :)

Thank you for the info smart cookie. The prices do seem competitive for International Vietnam Air Flights. What threw me off was their price for a domestic flight from Hanoi to Saigon; They want $232.00 US as compared to the going Vietnam Airlines rate of around $110.00. I may indeed use them for a ticket between Luang Prabang and Hanoi as an Eticket is the best way to go. I will use Pacific Air for my domestic flight in Vietnam (the price is cheaper and they have a web sight that works!!!!)

9# I would stick to your first choice Viroth's Hotel then as this fits your description or another option would be Bopha Angkor Hotel which gets good reviews.
