Venezuela in MarchCountry forums / South America / Venezuela
Hello colleagues, we are planning to go to Venezuela end of February - starting in Isla Margarita for a week´s windsurfing. So we have about two weeks to travel, what do you suggest as the best places to visit? Are Canaima/the angel falls worth it in march (as someone suggested not to go during the dry season)? Does anybody know good spots to go scuba diving off Isla Margarita or the main land or would it be worth to go to Los Roques (seems quite expensive)?
Hi, | 1 | |
March is definitely the best moment to go in the llanos, dry season, all animals are visible, really amazing | 2
The peninsular near Santa Ana de Coro is reputed to offer superb windsurfing. Coro is beautiful and SAFE. You can stroll the Historic district in the evening withouit getting mugged - unusual for a Venezuelan city. Were I younger, I would spend months based in Santa Elena, also safe and fun (I got kidnapped see BLOG at www.simongandolfi.com ) and the Gran Sabana is magnificent. At 75, I am too old to go scrambling up table mountains, a great regret. I rode through on my Honda in November/December on the way north from Tierra del Fuego. | 3
Thanks for all your ideas - I hope we´ll have good fun! | 4
