Dear all, | ||
I haven't heard of any regular boats on that route. You would have to charter a boat -- easy but expensive. | 1
Not that I'm aware of. How much time do you have to get to Livingston? | 2
No, there is no boat. You would need to bus to Belize City and then on to Punta Gorda, where you can get water taxis to Livingston or Puerto Barrios. Alternatively, you could bus to Flores (also via Belize City, but there are direct buses there from Chetumal) and then continue on to Rio Dulce, then take a water taxi through the gorge to Livingston. | 3
The other one would be Palenque- Tikal- Rio Dulce- Livingston, probably a more interesting trip, depending what you're into. Any particular reason for wanting to dodge Belize? | 4
I got to Livingston by flying to Guat city fromCancun and catching a bus there to Puerto Barrios and the a boat there to Livingston. Interesting funky place. Photos on wolf calls, com | 5
avoid to pay the entryfee 8-); | 6
Dear all, thank you so much for your replies! As I have only 35 days for my trip 8-)), and like to have as much as possible including time for snorkeling and may be one ore two beers at the beach, dont like to waiste time. Places I like to visit: What do you think? Is it possible, or more or less a nightmar ;-) Thank you so much for your help. Regards Doris | 7
Christmas time means higher prices and required stays. Also if you do go thru Belize you will be hit up for a Mexican exit fee which is illegal and huge fees to exit Belize. Not to mention Entry fee. All of Mexico goes to the beach at christmas time so be ready as some places sold out already I have been told. No one heads to Europe anymore so huge amounts of folks from all over now going to Mexico and points south in Central and South America.. | 8
Omg, that sounds horrible. Come to Europe! Please! | 9
It's $20, and goes towards archaeological conservation. | 10
Where do you fly into and out of? Dates of flight please. | 11
aslukas, is that Belizean or US bucks. | 12
Re: Belize... | 13 | |
If you enter Mexico at a land border, you shouldn't have to pay anything upon entry. And there's no departure/exit fee/tax. There is a tourist fee/tax which you must pay before you leave Mexico. Sometimes I've paid it at a bank. If you plan to leave Mexico at a land border, the easiest thing to do is pay it at the border. I've always paid the fee in pesos -- it works out to be equivalent of about US$24. If your stay in Mexico is 7 days or less, you do not need to pay the fee -- you might need to leave Mexico at the same point where you entered. | 14
Dear all, will arrive in Guatemala City on the 08.12. Honig directly to Antigua (hopefully) and depart on 12.01. from Guatemala City. | 15
Why Mexico? Still haven't said what you want to see and do? You have about a month, 30 days? Places I like to visit: | 16
Oh yeah, how many people traveling? Anyone speak Spanish? | 17
Desr Hermosajoe, like to hike Vulcanos, dive - depends on how much it will Cost, snorkeling is also ok, Explore Tikal, drink Beer, relaxt in hot Springs, Explore a Cave, if possible go with a sailingboat and have fun, searching for shells on a Beach, Drink pina colada, ... | 18
Guess your a chick using terms like dear. Maybe something like: Easy paddle to hot springs from the river lodges. It's only one option. Could after Tikal/Flores go north to Palenque then over to San Cristobal de las Casas and back down to Guatemala but you'll get more variety the other way. | 19
