Tulum accomadation

Country forums / Mexico / Mexico

Searching for accomodation in Tulum. I'm pregnant, so I would like a clean comfortable room (don't need AC, maybe just a fan...). Beach or town? Less than 100$US. Any good recommendation? Is it that hard to find food or water on the beach? (I can hungry all the time!) Thank you!

Oups. Accommodation....

We have just left Tulum and stayed in the Weary Traveller hostel in town. It had some quite annoying people there and was a bit costly. However I would rate it as a good place to stay as there are a lot of people and you can make loads of pancakes for breakfast. We had planned to stay on the beach but then got worried when everyone said everyone got robbed there. Maybe that´s not the case but we didn´t want to risk it.

Are you recommending the Weary Traveler hostel for a pregnant woman? How much did it cost? the OP can pay up to $100 a night.

This is high season right now and Tulum hotel zone is very packed. You should know that some places do not have power all night so your fan may be off at ten pm. Tulum is also very buggy in the night so bring your own net if staying in the beach area. Places often provided nets full of holes. You must be careful you do not get bitten as dengue fever on the rise in Mexico and check with your doctor as to wehat to take to prevent malaria. Tulum Publo is dusty, dirty roadsidetown and very noisey at niight. Food in hotel zone not cheap and not very good. Food in tulum Pueblo better. Yes robberies do occur in the beach areas but mostly in the really low end cabanas.
