Tulcea to Odessa/Chisinau

I am planning a trip from Tulcea (few days in the Danube Delta) to Odessa/Chisinau.

I need an advice: Can I travel from Tulcea region directly to Odessa or not?

from tulcea go to galat and from galat (a city near the border with Ukraine), there you can hitchhike from Galati to Reni (nearest town across the border in Ukraine; getting to it involves passing through a small part of Moldova) and take a bus to Odessa from there.
