Trieste for fun and beaches?

My friends and I are starting our interrailing trip in trieste and were just wondering whether it's worth staying a few nights there?
Looking for a place where we can go to the beach, and get a tan , before going out at night maybe...

it's just we know very little about this part of Italy and I trust real people more than travel guides I can find on the internet so if anyone has any information,it would be much appreciated!

YOu don't need to go that far! And I'd much rather stay in Grado (30km away from Trieste) than in Rimini anyway. Or cross over to Slovenia.

I was in Trieste, Grado and the Slovenian and Croatian coast last summer. I would definitely recommend you to go to Piran in Slovenia, a very pretty coastal town.
