Travelling to AmaranteCountry forums / Western Europe / Portugal
Hi All, I am trying to find travel information from Porto Airport to Amarante. From what I have found so far, there is no direct service but I would have to get a bus or train to central Porto and then a bus to Amarante. Bus from the city is operated by jointly by Rodonorte and Santos Viagens santosviagensturismo.pt/horarios/AMARANTE-VI… every 1 - 2 hours fare €7,20 Also the train station is in a dodgy area in the city Is all this true. Could someone with experience please advice me. I'm going with my girlfriend and she's not quite the adventurer.
If you Google “Rodonorte Porto” you can get a Google map that shows you where the bus depot is. It looks like it is about 300-400 meters from the Sao Bento railway station (that have tile works that are worth a look). To get to Sao Bento you have to catch the Metro (line E) from out front of the Airport to the Trindade metro station and swap to a Metro heading to Sao Bento (line D), or stay on the first Metro to the Campanha railway station and catch a train to Sao Bento. From Sao Bento walk to the bus depot. The area around the San Bento railway station seemed perfectly ok to me. In fact, no part of the central area of Porto appeared dodgy, but I wasn't wandering around at 3am. Edited by: Stav_ros | 1
Many thanks for your reply Stav_ros. I'm actually leaning towards renting a car, just checking prices | 2
It is very fast by car to go to Amarante and cost around 5€ toll. | 3
