| leysin15:51 UTC11 May 2007 | Any ideas as to airlines or best ways to fly to Instanbul from Melbourne. Thinking of getting round the world ticket- Melb-Instanbul- Ljubljana-Milan- Paris-London- Melb. Havent checked the agents out yet but you may know of cheap airlines doing those internal sections.
Which time of the year would you recommend-end of May and June or towards end of Sept into October to set off.
Has anyone done any of the Intrepid trips in Turkey? I am considering doing the 15 day one - Exploring Turkey- any feedback?
Appreciate any help.

| bmta16:13 UTC11 May 2007 | now I know Leysin as a expensive, belgians favored Swis ski-resort, but obviously you do not know enough english: you are NOT talking about rtw=round thw orld, but a Multi-stop return, which will cost a BIG lot of $$ youre best bet most likely will be the cheapest return you can find to anywhere in Eur (favor germany), and check whichbudget.com for additi. Lowcost(think VirginStar) airlines, in fact a lot of the segments you mention do not even have regular flights

| leysin16:59 UTC11 May 2007 | Excuse me I do speak English as I am Australian and I am 56 years of age and yes you are probably right it could be a multi stop airfare I would need. Yes I know where Leysin is and I stayed there 26 years ago when it was popular with Australians and was a friendly place with polite people. I believe there are regular flights between the places I mentioned.
Thanks for relying.

From Ist use THY or a cheapie to your other destinations then go back to Dubai ex London on Emirates and back to Melb. From this neck of the woods Emirates always works out cheaper for the long haul part of the flight to Ist.

| karynh16:27 UTC12 May 2007 | Hello to a fellow Melbournian!
In the past I've bought a multi stop ticket (well, more like a 5 stop loop ticket - different than RTW) with Lufthansa that wasn't too expensive and you can choose between a few destinations in Europe - can't remember exactly which cities though - and then bought extra flights throughout Europe. I went through Flight Centre and checked prices on their website and went into one of their shops to confirm (which are all connected to Student Flights and Escape Travel - so you'll get the same deals in each) Also try www.bestflights.com.au and if the prices are cheaper Flight Centre will beat them. Another idea is that Singapore Airlines ( and Emirates) often have quite good prices for online promotions for tickets from Melb, through Singapore and/or Dubai and then onto Istanbul. Tours throughout Turkey are a good idea if you're going alone and want to meet people, but travelling in Turkey is very easy to organise and you can have more freedom going independantly.

| sandiefran18:01 UTC12 May 2007 | We are flying out of Sydney on Tuesday 3.50pm with Singapore Airlines, change flight No.s in Singapore, 1 hour stop in Dubai and then Istanbul, arriving 7.30am Wednesday. Singapore Airlines were the second cheapest after Gulf airlines (when we booked in December), but with a much shorter flight time - 22 hours compared to 30 hours.
We are doing at 23 day tour with Transglobal (Melb company) who are agents for Pacha Tours in Turkey. This was the most extensive tour that we could find, starting from Trabzon and looping around most of the main areas back to Istanbul - everything is included.
Don't know about other onward flights, sorry.
