Travelling during Eid el-Fitr (End of Ramadan)

Country forums / Middle East / Jordan

Hello everyone :)

I've seen there is discussion about travelling during Ramadan in Jordan.
How about in Eid el-Fitr period?

For I know, it last 3~5 days as national holidays in Jordan.
I'm planning to go visit Jordan during that period (for 2K12, 8/19~8/24)
Would it be very inconvenient in transportation, accommodation, or... etc?
The most important is: Is it worth a visit during that period? to have a different experience.

redfield
during Eid the city is deserted ,shops closed ,public transport is curtailed to minimum.Tourist sites are operating as usual but
Amman is boring lifeless. If you can reschedule your trip to Jordan do that.
cheers

As above. Most Jordanians make the rounds visiting relatives, or head to the Dead Sea or Aqaba for the time off; hotels in these two places are usually fully booked. After the first 1-2 days, shops start opening back up and things begin moving again. The Greater Eid--Eid Al Adha--the feast of the sacrifice--comes 40 days later.
