Travelling between Etosha and Windhoek

My self-drive partner and I will need to travel from Etosha (Von Lindequis gate) to Windhoek.
1. How long can we expect this drive to take?
2. Would you recommend stopping somewhere overnight between the two?
3. If a stopover is recommended, any advice as to where & what to do?

It's only about 450-500km. 5 hrs drive on a good tarred road the whole way. There's no need to stop if you don't want to.
If you do decide to stop, Waterberg Plateau is quite nice - but I'd be all for spending an extra night in Etosha rather than stopping if you didn't have to.

Namutoni/Windhoek is 533Kms - it is doable in 1 day, but if you want to take your time, you can stop at Waterberg Plateau - a lot of short hikes and a very nice campsite
