Travelling around Mongolia. Public transports?Country forums / North-East Asia / Mongolia
I'm planning to visit Mongolia, possibly next summer.
You can easily catch the public transportation from UB to any province of Mongolia. But once you get one of those provice or town by public transportation, then it will be kinda hard to find any public transportations to other towns or some attractive destinations. If you want to do it by this way, you will probably travel with 20 other people in a van which has 10 seat in it! | 1
Quando pensi di andare in Mongolia? | 2
There are international trains from Beijing & Irkutsk to Ulan Bator. Public Transport in Mongolia is poor & often involves standing room only in trucks. There is a cheap public bus to Terelj Gorkhi NP from UB that leaves around 11 am in Peace Ave & returns to UB at 8am. Your best bet is to join a tour. OTAM Eco tours were great, & around $123 for a 6 day 5 night tour. | 3
In 4 weeks, the number of foreigners in the Russian jeeps I toured in, never exceeded 5. | 4
