Country forums / Middle East / Jordan

How long does it take to travel from damascus to amman, what is the easiest way and how much should it cost.

Same question for how long it takes to travel from amman to jerusalem, what is the easiest way and how much should it cost.

Is it possible to travel from damascus to jerusalem in 1 day?

Many thanks for your help.

Amman-damascus 3-4 hours depends on border delay

Suggest you check out the "Around the Middle East" section of [http://www.jordanjubilee.com] There are separate pages for Syria and for Israel.

Damascus to Amman around $13 - bus or shared taxi.

Time 3 hours depending upon delays.

Amman to Jerusalem will take half an hour to the Israeli border
- half an hour to cross - half an hour to go through passport checks
etc - and one hour to Jerusalem. This does not include any border
delays which could be NIL or could be hours. Total 2.5 hours approx

Approx 7 hours should do it - and yes easily doable in a day.

Sorry I forgot to add that if you go direct to the Northern crossing
- you will save 1 hour.

Can someone forward information for bus or shared taxi from Amman to Damascus. We will probably be heading back to Damascus on the 9th or 10th from Amman

Just go along to Abdali and there are many offices for taxis .
There are also buses from JETT - same place

If you want to take the shared taxi yourself - he will go within
half an hour. If you want to share with others you will have to
wait until it fills up - could be one hour, could be four. It all
depends. The office will give you a time to come back.

Buses are twice a day but don't know the times - sorry

If you havnt already left Amman

There are few offices around Abdali .Before you decide on which taxi to take. You ask them how many passenger do you need before you leave to Damascus .That way you know which taxi is about to leave.Normaly a modern taxi carrys 4 passenger ,and the old syrian yellow Dodge takes 5 .Usualy the Jordan taxis leave Amman am hours or u till 1 pm and the Syrians leave after that time cos they want to retun home for the night.
