Hi!

Has anybody been in Myanmar in the last 3 month? Is it possible to travel around?

Yes, Just read back on the Myanmar Branch.

Hi, went there 16 Oct-03 Nov, just did the usual Tourist loop, ie Yangon, Golden Rock, Inle, Kalaw, Mandalay, Bagan, Pyay back to Yangon. Thouroughly enjoyed it, only slight disappointment, I couldn't catch the 'fast' boat, Mandalay to Bagan. (no tourists, no boats).

No problems, no restrictions, no intimidation except for the monkeys at Mount Popa, almost demanding the little cone of maize.

Really enjoyed it, few tourists, and accommodation is negotiable. personally I wouldn't go in too hard, life is hard enough in Myanmar

It is ok except they force you to eat crickets before leaving Yangon....

4

I didn't mind the crickets, they were quite crunchy and smelled of peanut oil! :)

5

Didn't know you liked Cricket, Trip?.. Thought you were a Golfer?

6

Grasshoppers in Thailand, Burma and Vietnam are very good.

I am an allrounder Mose. Tried the crickets in Camobdia and another something in Vietnam, it wasn't a cricket, prolly a cockroach. aaaargh. But if ya never go ya never know!

8

How about fried spiders plucked straight from their burrows and pan fried with lashings of garlic and salt in Skuon? Beats crickets any time.

9

No way, I couldn't come at the spiders at all.
I was going to try, but they just looked too creepy.
