Travel itinerary for Greece

Country forums / Western Europe / Greece

My husband and I are in our 30's and we are planning our last hurrah before we have kids!! We plan to spend a week in Greece the first week in November and are looking for some suggestions on an itinerary. It sounds like there are sooo many great places in Greece.

Here are our desires -
visit several different locations - maybe 3 or 4?
visit some beaches
not very interested in history (don't need to go to churches & museums), but enjoy culture and experiencing towns and cities
want some nightlife/partying, but not required for the entire trip
*want some towns/cities that are interesting with character - not just big cities

I realize these may be odd requests, but I am trying to narrow down what we are looking for :)

Interested in your replies...thanks.

I think it would be in your interests to visit a website with the weather statistics for Greece, as you are going in the winter when the weather is not particularly good. Also it is way off the tourist season. Your requirements can really only be met in the mid to hi-season.

They are not odd requests at all, easily met in the summer months in the islands, although 2 weeks would be preferable.

'visit some beaches' - You will be very lucky to bet days warm enough for the beach.
'
want some nightlife/partying, but not required for the entire trip' - You are going in the off-season little chance of any of that.

If you want beaches, sunshine & nightlife for your last hurrah, best to go to the Caribbean... St. Croix is good. That's where we went one November -- and the result is now celebrating his 40th birthday.

After you have those kiddies.... and they're, say, 3 & 5, You can have a MARVELOUS Greek isle experience en famille, on an Island such as Naxos. Staying there in late May, I always see tons of Scandinavian families with their toddlers in those "umbrella" strollers, enjoying the shallow (safe) beach at Ag. Giorgios, renting on-beach apts where you can sun while kids nap inside --and rolling the babes a 10-minute walk to harborside tavernas, where they enjoy sunsets in dinner while the tots snooze in their seats.

Greek travel & fun doesn't end when u have children... u just have to pick the right places.
