Travel from Lhasa to Nepal (border)

Dear thorn tree readers,

We (dutch couple) arrived today in Lhasa and are looking to book a 5 or 6 day overland trip from Lhasa to Nepal (border or Khatmandu) leaving on Monday July 30th. (but might also be one day later or earlier).

We would like to join others if possible.
In the meantime we will be looking arround visiting travel booking offices arround Lhasa, so if your interested, please let us know.

We have an initial itinery made but we are flexible...
Please let us know if we can join or if you would like to come allong.

We stay in the Banal Shol Hostel.

Itinerary Tibet to Nepalese border in 6 days: versie 3
1. Lhasa – Samye
2. Gyantse
3. Shigatse
4. Sakya
5. Shegar – EBC – (Rongphu-monastry))
6. Zhang Mu / Kodari (Nepalese border )

Ad 1 Lhasa (3800m.) Direction Samye along the Yarlong Tsangpo river (Bramaputra). After 3 hours we cross the river (1 1/2h. by ‘ferry’) and travel by open truck (30 min.) to stay the Samye monastery

Ad 2. We drive back the same way,, and continue on the old road to Gyantse. From the Kamba-La pas (4795m.). we have a good view on Yamdrok Tso (lake) below.
In Gyantse (3950m.) you see the market, the big Stupa and the Pelchor Chode monastery

Ad 3. Shigatse (3900 m.) is the 2nd biggest city of Tibet. We see the Tashi Lhunpo monastery, where the Pansjen Lama lived.

Ad 4. In Sakya (4300m.) we see the Gompa monastery (south).

Ad 5. From Shegar we enter the National Park Qomolongma, with the Rongphu monastery. By jeep it is 15 min. to the Everest Base Camp (walking takes to 2 H over a sandy plain)

Ad 6. We end in Zhang Mu (2300m.) or in Kodari (800 m. south, and just on the Nepalese border (visa on arrival is USD 30 + photo). Bus from Kodari to Kathmandu (8H) or jeep (5Hr)
