Travel companies offering 2-3 day tours from Jerusalem/Tel Aviv?Country forums / Middle East / Israel
Given the exorbitant cost of hiring a taxi/private guide if I can't find anyone willing to join in and split the costs, I'm also looking at a 2-day or 3-day tour from Jerusalem (or else Tel Aviv) to see other parts of Israel. Have found sites for many, many companies doing 1-day tours, but a harder time finding 2-day or 3-day tours. Ideally want to go to Nazareth/Tiberias/Galilee but open to other ideas (other than the West Bank - already got that covered!) Any suggestions? Found one that looks interesting: http://www.city-discovery.com/jerusalem/tour.php?id=2812. I welcome any feedback on travelling in Israel with City Discovery. Thanks!
Elisabeth, excuse me, but reading your postings I have the feeling you make easy things complicate. Just fly to israel and book a trip once you are there. You can also INFORM in advance here: www.egged.co.il. People in hotel will be glad to assist you when booking a tour, don't worry. Good luck. | 1
Fareaway, With the greatest of respect, we all have different ways of doing things, including different travel styles. On vacation, I run round seeing as much as possible at a rate that would leave most people pleading for a time out! To me, it's a complete waste of valuable vacation time - esp once I don't have continuous phone or Internet access - to be dealing with logistics that could have been sorted before I left home (e.g. hotel bookings - assuming you can even get them in high season without booking in advance). Sure, some things are better done once there, but there's a lot that can be done beforehand. I've asked lots of questions in this forum and the feedback has been invaluable in helping me make decisions about parts of my trip. I've looked into some options and then gone in a different direction in light of the responses, and I now understand the alternatives and have acted accordingly. (Many thanks to all those who have patiently answered my questions and provided helpful info.) If I had waited until I had got to Israel, I might not have understood all my options and made the best decision. I see this as the point of the TT forums - if you want to wing it, no need to be reading the TT forums at all! The one time I had to do things on the fly - completely not my fault, as Indian Air cancelled a flight and didn't bother to notify me - I got screwed over by the hotel and tour company it put me in contact with. I ended up having a very stressful time as a result of the last minute major itinerary changes and the lies I was told about travel times between places by car instead of flying. So that's my experience of last minute planning. That said, I recognize some people prefer to make it up as they go along. Fine by me if other people want to do that, but please reciprocate and recognize that the way you do things is not the way that everyone likes to do things! Probably (more than) enough said... you said: "Ideally want to go to Nazareth/Tiberias/Galilee but open to other ideas." so take the United tour. book at jaffa gate of old city in jerusalem or can book online. one day tour, $80 USD, goes to nazareth and galilee. if u want to visit tiberias, take an egged bus from tel aviv or jerusalem. julie | 3
Hi Elisabeth, after a while I am back in forum and I am really estonished what problem means travelling for some people. Sorry that I answered you and tried to calm you down. One last proposal (and please don't explode): next trip you'd better book in your home country in advance. I understand you because my brother is alike you-problems everywhere. I couldn't travel with him and his wife but again...good luck for you. Israel is a modern country with civilized people. Anyway, I hope you have a good trip. | 4
Fareaway, Huh? My only point was that people have different travelling styles - some like to get lots of information and plan things beforehand; others like to go with the flow once they arrive. While I'm in category #1, I say each to his or her own. I've travelled to many, many countries and off beaten paths that most people will never see. In the last 10 years, I've spent only two vacation days in my country of residence (which is not my native country). I'll have to tell my friends that someone suggested I travel domestically - it'll be a case of ROFLAO! My travelling can in no way be characterized as "problems everywhere" - quite the contrary. The only issue between us is that different people have different travelling styles and - well, not to put too fine a point on it - currently only one of us accepts that this is OK. Elizabeth | 5

" Hi Elisabeth, my really LAST posting to this matter: let's please come to an end. The more you want to make proof you're an experienced traveller-the less I believe you. Let's please come to an end. A last time. Good luck!!! | 6
Agreed - I've well and truly had enough of this. For anyone who has the misfortune to read through this thread, I believe that the prior postings speak for themselves. My only request is that, in dealings with other travellers in this forum, you are respectful of opinions that differ from yours and refrain from accusing people of lying when you do not know the facts. I will have nothing more to say in this thread. Elizabeth | 7
