Transit visa for Russia

Country forums / North-East Asia / Mongolia

Hi,

I will be travelling to Mongolia in June via Moscow (airplane). Does anyone know, if I need a transit visa for Russia if I am just switching my flight in Moscow?

Thanks for Your answers.

Hi,

I'm pretty sure you don't; transit visas are usually needed if your travel includes an overland section. (although things do change)

We were left, overnight, in Moscow Airport guzzling Stolichnaya back in 1990, en-route to Bangkok and no visa was required.................

If you remain in the airport and both legs are into and out of the same airport, then you do not need a transit visa.

If you need to change airports, then you will need a transit visa.

If you want to leave the airport to see the city, you will need a transit visa.
