Transit in Singapore Airport - Length of TransitCountry forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Singapore
Hi All, I'm travelling from the UK to Australia next February with Singapore Airlines. I'm going through Changi Airport and am looking at staying at the Transit hotel to catch up on a bit of sleep/get a shower etc. I arrive at Changi at 3pm and my flight onto Australia isn't until the next morning at 7am (so 16 hours in Singapore). Now I'm definitely wanting to sleep as I would rather catch up on some sleep and try to adjust my body clock so I'm less affected when I get to Australia. I'm not too bothered about seeing Singapore as went there a few years ago. Couple of questions if you don't mind:
Is the length of stopover too long for a normal 'transit' in the airport? Cheers everyone
Yes u will have to get your luggage checked all the way thru to your OZ destination to use the transit hotel. Reserve a room NOW as its almost always fully booked at nite times. | 1
No reason for Singapore Airlines to NOT check your luggage through seeing as its only a transit stop even though its for 16hrs Thats long enough to go into the city itself for a look around. | 2
Agree with the other commentators. I'd still check out a free tour offered by the airport into town. There is a free theater in the airport, lots of places to watch the news (though how many times you could watch the same coverage over and over is up to you), or watch sports. Lots of chain cafes though none that serve anything remarkable. There's free internet. Lots of standard airport duty-free shops. | 3

As you have such a long transit I would personally go into the city for the evening. Getting from the airport into Singapore is extremely easy - there's a super-modern metro right from the airport right into the city (or if money's not an issue taxis are easy to find). Anyway, that's what I'd do - if I wasn't too tired. It's a shame not to see something of Singapore itself, and as I said, it's very easy to get into from the airport even if just for a few hours... | 5
Even a wander down by Clarke Quay or Bugis St would do me. | 6
