Train vs bus from KL to SingaporeCountry forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Malaysia
We're travelling from KL to Singapore on the evening of January 18. We wanted to catch one of the sleepers trains for the experience and to save on hotel costs. However, when I checked the Malaysian railways website, I found out that the only slots left on the overnight train are the Superior Class seats for 34 Ringgit. Does anyone have any experience on these seats? We're looking for a balance of convenience and affordability here. Thanks in advance.
If its so popular, you may find tickets sell out while you're researching. Bus prices vary between bus companies (there's dozens of them) to the type of bus and seat.Only takes 6hrsso | 1
One thing the bus has as an advantage is that its faster, and another is that there is a lot more choice of departure times. | 2
We got food and drink on our bus plus we stopped at a roadside food center on the way. The seats were exceptionally comfortable but I guess we paid for that. | 3
Yes,that is only on the executive buses. The 'normal' ones are fine, and comfortable enough...but no on-board food, and normal size seats. They stop along the way for a toilet/food break. | 4
Even worse was we literally got dropped in the middle of nowhere which is a bit hard in Singapore. Sunday, dark and raining. The one time you need a map. | 5
The train seats are comfortable. If its the 22.30 from KL Sentral it'll arrive in Woodlands at 07.00. You might want to carry a sweater each, the coach can get chilly. | 6
I read in a couple of guides that the bus is not that much faster than the train though. The train takes around 7 hours, I think. | 7
Thanks for the tip. | 8 | |
