Third week of October- Weather?

How is travel in the 3rd week of October. In Yunan and Tibet and other parts of China as far as Beijing? Is it still crowded and difficult to get train tickets at that time of the year? Is it necessary to book hostels ahead of time? Thanks for your help.

Not as crowded anymore, unless you're going to Jiuzhaigou in Sichuan province.

I was in Tibet last October, for the last two weeks, and it was not to crowded. There were still quite a few Western tourists around, but there were no problems finding accomodations, or arranging trips.

And in late October, many guesthouses start to offer special rates for long-term stayers. Last year we stayed at the Phuntsok Khasang, they charge Y800 for a whole month for a double room with attached shower room.
