Theft insurance for Canadians travelling abroadInterest forums / Travel Tech
I know this topic was addressed a couple of times previously but they were all for non- Canadians. Does any one know if there are insurance companies out there that would cover laptop, camera etc for theft when Canadians travelling outside of Canada/US?
Go to an insurance broker ... they will know what is available. You can also usually get a rider on your house insurance (provided you own a house and it is insured) | 1
You can buy international travel insurance - even online. | 2
I just booked with PrimeLink Insurance through the broker I use for my car insurance. They cover up to $1000 per item. | 3
are you sure? I just called them and was told they Primelinkinsurance.ca does not offer insurance for theft. They do however offer baggage insurance which is very different though (ie: your baggage gets lost in transit). | 4
I called them to make sure and they said that theft is covered for max $300/item, not $1000. The $1000 is a total of different items. It is part of the baggage insurance. I have the All Inclusive Plan. Give them a call. | 5
Also, it is only covered if you report it to the police | 6
