Tashkurgan-Sost bus

Hello fellow cyclists,

I am riding the Karakoram highway in Pakistan in about 2 weeks as a part of my world tour. I was looking for some information about the bus from Tashkurgan to Sost and I'm assuming it is still illegal to ride over the pass. My questions are..
- what is the cost of the ticket and for a bike?
-where to buy the ticket and how far in advance?
-can you be let off at the pass and bike down to Sost?

I think it was 80 or 120 Remimbi but not sure it was 2 years ago. They wanted extra for bike but just tell them you have no more money, worked for me.

-where to buy the ticket and how far in advance?

I am pretty sure they will fit everybody who wants to go on that little bus. I think it was daily trip. You get the ticket from the immigration/customs compound few ks down the road from town.

I didn't try it was snowing up there but I will doubt that they will let you out without the stamp. You will also need to pay $8 for going through the park even though you in a bus. You obviously can backtrack after getting your stamp.

I was able to bribe a Chinese driver to let me off at the pass and I rode back to Sost. But that was back in 1995 and things were easier then.
It's a pity you now have to bus it as that leg is one of the most beautiful legs of any ride in the world.
