Tangier - Granada door to door how long?

Country forums / Western Europe / Spain

No planes, and we plan to take the overnight train from MArrakech to Tanger.

Thanks!!

For train times from Algeciras to Granada, see the RENFE website. You don't need to enter a date at this stage if you don't know what date you're travelling. Just base your ferry times around the train departures. You can't book your train ticket in advance; just turn up. I've even seen people pay on the train.

There are also Portillo buses for that route. Just make sure you take a "Directo" bus; it saves you almost 2 hours (3 hrs 45 mins vs 5 hrs 30 mins) and costs €0.48 less!

P.S. Don't take the ferry to Tarifa because it's a much more tricky journey onwards to Granada.

Actually there isn't much to it and the Tarifa ferry is better and faster than the slower ferries to Algeciras. Once you arrive to Tarifa there is a free shuttle waiting to take you the 20 minutes to Algeciras, crossing this way can save you at least an hour if not more. The bus company for Granada is right on the main avenue that is opposite the port entrance.

Thanks, Chanol, I didn't know about that shuttle.
