Taiwan itinerary

Country forums / North-East Asia / Taiwan

At the end of the year, I'm going to Taiwan with my spouse. This is actually my 3rd time to Taiwan so I'm hoping to see whatever attractions I missed last time. The only ones I'm going that I have been before is the National Palace Museum (which my spouse hopes to see) and the Miniatures Museum which I really enjoyed the last time I went.

Here is my itinerary. Suggestions and comments are most welcome. Do let me know if I should rearrange the order to make the travelling more convenient. Also, are there any attractions that I missed or anything I should omit? We are staying in New Taipei near St Ignatius High School MRT so I'm only focusing on North Taiwan to avoid excessive travelling.

On Sunday, we arrive at the airport at 3pm. After checking in, we will go to Tamsui to wander and then go to Guandu temple.

On Monday we will go to Xintian temple, Nougat Museum and Armed Forces Museum. In the afternoon, we will go to the National Palace Museum and finish the day by going to Shilin Night Market.

On Tuesday morning, we will take the bus to Yehliu Geopark and after that visit Yehliu Ocean World. In the afternoon, we will take a combination of bus (maybe taxi from Jinshan if we miss the shuttle bus) to Juming museum. After that, we will go to Teresa Teng memorial. If there’s time (I doubt it though), we’ll also visit the Dharma Drum Monastery.

On Wednesday morning, we will go to the Zoo. In the afternoon, we will go to Wulai.

On Thursday, we will go to the Lin Family Mansion and Gardens. After that we will go to Jinguashi (train to Ruifang and bus to Jinguashi). In the evening when we’re back, we will go to the Taipei Underground Mall near the main station for shopping and finish off by going to Raohe Night Market and Songshan Ciyou temple.

On Friday,we will go to the Shihsanhang Museum of Archaelogy. After that, we will go to the Lin An Tai house and remnants of the World Flower Expo. In the afternoon, we will go to Su Ho Paper Museum and the Miniatures Museum and finish the evening at Liaoning Night Market.

On Saturday, we will take the morning train to Changhua to see Baguashan. After that, we will walk back to the train station and stop in the Confucious temple on the way. After that, we will take the train to Hsinchu. At Hsinchu, we will visit the Pu Tian temple at Guqifeng and also the Glass Museum. We will go to Chenghuang temple to try the foodstalls around for dinner before returning to Taipei.

On Sunday morning, we will go to Xinbeitou to see the Hot Springs Museum and Ketagalan Centre before leaving. Our flight back is at 4pm.

I was initially going to put Lugang, Nanfang Ao and the National Center for Traditional Arts and Taipei Museum of Contemporary Art in the schedule until I realized that it might not fit into the time.

Anyhow, comments and suggestions are most welcome.

No suggestions from anyone?

pianocello, we are off to Taiwan mid-Nov to mid-Dec. Sorry you didn't receive any comments to your question, but perhaps you could give me a few tips after your experiences at that time of the year.
