syrian visa for a new zealand citizen

Country forums / Middle East / Syria

can new zealanders travelling to syria get a visa abroad? since we don't have an embassy at home (according to google) it seems that i should have no trouble getting a visa in turkey, but on the embassy's australian website there's a little section for new zealand passport holders.

will the embassy staff in istanbul deny me a visa because of that and say i should have applied for it via canberra? and does the consulate in bangkok issue visas to non thai citizens? would save me going through turkey.

thanks :)

i should have read back further. doesn't seem like i'll have a problem.

you will not have a problem getting your visa at border as there's no embassy at home.

I think in theory Damascus counts NZ as part of Australia and so you are supposed to apply there (I know! gasp!), but as you may have read most people seem to be having little trouble obtaining them at the border these days (despite the official policy).

I suspect that your chances are greater on the border than they are in Turkey...
