Syria Maps

Country forums / Middle East / Syria

Hello,

I just found a great resource for a Syrian Map. This is the map that is produced here in Syria and given to tourists for free, but it is also quite useful online for trip planning!

I hope this comes in handy!

Aïcha,

The ressource is a good one. I have an german map but it have not all the archeologic sites. The web adress can be change (look at the last numbers) and you can cover all the country.

I came in October to explore the dead cities, more deeper than i have doing 2 years ago, and the kurdish area near Hassake and Qamishle. This time a will have a car, Inch Allah.

Can I ask you where I can get these maps? In some tourist centre? I have a map of Deir ez Zor area, but only because I have found in my room when i was there.

Interesting map.

According to it, the "international border" with Turkey has Antakia inside Syria, with the actual border with Turkey (with Antakia inside Turkey) being marked as a "temporary" border.

Of course, it goes without saying that they label the 1949 Armistice cease-fire lines as the international border with Israel (which it isn't), and it seems like the Shebaa farms area is also in Syria, although I can't be 100% sure without checking further.

Mloch, you can get them in a tourist office provided free of charge in many languages in Syria. The one in Damascus is there by the National Museum. There is also one right next to the Bosra Amphitheater if you happen down that way. I personally loved this office, absolutely wonderful agents there, and had tons and tons of goodies to grab regarding syria! Even tourist guide type books. All free!

At my appreciation and experience : no better map for Syria ( and other destinations... ) than 'Syria' by 'Reise Know How' - a excellent German ( but bilingual ) map, which I bought in Munich or Cologne. Probably not available everywhere outside German speaking areas, unless in good travel book shop, but the quality beats by far other editions, such as Berndt & Freytag ( and its Syrian counterfact, showing the Syrian version of the country borders... ).
