Supermarket in Belize City

Country forums / Central America / Belize

I'm going to be on Caulker for the month of sept. and we want to stock up on non-perishables (aka rice and beans) before we head to the island. Does anyone know of a good market to hit?

Thanks!

If you are planning to eat rice and beans while on CC you might want to consider eating out. The restaurants there do a very good job of cooking up the R & B at a very reasonable price. If you do want to spend the time grating your own coconut, making the coconut milk, cooking the beans then cooking the rice and beans that is fine; but I have seen an incredible amount of burned beans/rice and undercooked beans thrown out by visitors. If you want to prepare the type of meals for yourself that you won't find in CC restaurants you might want to shop at Brodies. If you want to prepare meals with fresh veggies (salads etc.), maybe someone living on CC can tell you where to buy them. There used to be a water taxi departing from the dock behind the courthouse, which is very close to Brodies. Maybe John500 can tell you if they are still in operation.
