suddenly problems with payment on rzd?

hi,

i have a german visa card with which i already booked tickets on rzd without any problems three times. now i wanted to book again, but this time i always receive an error called "system pos error", and the payment is declined. my bank says the request doesn't even reach them. do you think this is just a temporary error on the website, or do they suddenly reject my card?

it is strange that your bank doesnt see any request of payment.

I believe the russian bank used by RZD is one of the financial institutions under the sanctions of EU and USA but your bank should be able to unblock the payment if you confirm that your were indeed making a purchase.

Rzd website always have some problems and I can't believe it is still not English-speaking friendly. If Rzd not gonna work for you maybe try to book your tickets here its should be so much easier.

No the bank neither the airline office GOT any request ... The airline did let me book though

I was in Russia some days ago and 2 people from the UK had same issue trying to book via rzd.

Told them about the blocking from the EU-USA.

They called their banks (which didn't confirm any blocking on rubles transactions) but they remained on the line with the bank while re-trying to book the tickets.

It worked.

So if your bank says that they haven't block anything try it again with them on the line.

It is a well known problem. Site of Russian railways usually does not accept cards issued with foreign banks.

@ntrips: interesting information, but I called my bank twice and they always told me there was nothing coming in... so I'm not sure what they could have done.

@biser: I had no problems with booking on the site before, seems to be a new problem!

You can easily use ATM to withdraw money with cards of Visa and MasterCard, excluding the territory of Crimea, where it is prohibited by US government. There are not such problems in other parts of Russia.
Sometimes ATM may have a problem to communicatie the bank or of the lack of banknotes, as anywhere.
But no more.
