Student summer travellingInterest forums / Travel on a shoestring
Hi there, I'm a student and me and my friend want to go away for about a month this summer, but being a student we are both very strapped for cash. We are two girls who both love beaches but want a bit of an adventure too, not just to stay in one place.
First...where are you going from? Second.....how much will your limited funds realistically be? Third..this summer means when exactly? (summer is different all over the world) | 1
Sorry, England, probably either June or August | 2
ok......well,its hard to say with no ideas on money. Obviously if its very little you should be looking at Europe...anywhere you can fly to cheaply (eg Ryanair,Easy jet etc.)that is also cheap when you get there......maybe Bulgaria or Turkey for example. A step up in costs would be Croatia and the Balkan area...plenty of 'adventure'opportunities and great beaches too. | 3
Then...if you have more funds, you can start looking at other continents. You will need about £500 per person (more or less) for return flights...but these places will be cheap when you get there.Thailand is an obvious first choice for 'new'travellers....it has everything you need for a good month.... Indonesia is cheaper and more 'adventurous' with better beaches as well IMHO.And better weather in that period. More unusual choices with good beaches, nice weather in August and lots to see and do could include East Africa (Zanzibar)combined with Tanzania-that's more expensive though.Or Mexico. Then there is Peru..the beaches are nothing special but ok,and there are loads of cultural/jungle/trekking possibilities.. | 4
Basically what's said in the post above. | 5
Lucapal is indeed a miracle worker. He came up with great advice from little to no information from the OP. Amazing. | 6
Thank you updown...luckily? I have seen a few posts like this before.... ;-) | 7
Just a few... | 8 | |
Thank you so much lucapal, im sorry for that lack of information. | 9
Hey, I went to south east asia for 9 weeks and did Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore and managed on a budget of £2000. You could definitely do Thailand and Laos on your timescale and it is very cheap for you to do! My flights cost around £600 return and you get both the party beaches in the south and the adventures of Chang Mai in the North, definitely worth a look into...plus you avoid the weak euro currency if you go further afield!! | 10
Say around £500-600 for flights (return per person). then...for one month backpacker style....from around £700 a head more would give you a cheap but ok room, street food, some nights out (local not international style)..some attractions and day tours but not many...and local (bus)transport. You could do it for a bit less (cutting back on everything)and you can certainly do it for a lot more,if you want ;-) | 11
