Sri Lankan Visa at Colombia Airport

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / Sri Lanka

Three Questions, Answers to any of them would be appreciated.
1.
Is it definite that you can obtain a Sri Lankan Visa on arrival at Colombia Airport.
2.
We can travel on either Aussie and British passports, is there an advantage on entering SL with one rather than the other.
3.
Then at the airport, is there a prepaid taxi service and about how much to the backpacker area of Colombia.

Thank you

Hi Kath and Kim,
1/
Yes , you will definitely get a 30 day, free visa stamped into your passport on arrival at the airport.
2/
I don't know of any particular advantage to using either British or Aussie passports. ( Except of course, the Brits are known to be more refined and the Aussies a little uncouth .. I'd say something about rugby world cup as well but that may be taking a joke too far).
3/
Yes there's a prepaid taxi service available at the airport. From there to Lewis Place or Porutota Road in Negombo is about 800 rupees. There's no particular back packers area in Colombo. Negombo is only about 20 minutes from the airport and has a wide choice of accomodation, shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, etc. Lewis Place and the Porutota Road are the places to head for. They are one long road really, joined in the middle.
Rod.

yes you can get a free 30 day visa. plse note it is Colombo Airport and not Columbia! Also some peole seem to think that Colombo (the capital of SL) is full of drugs (!). plse note it is NOT - it's in Asia and not in S America!
