Spain in February

Country forums / Western Europe / Spain

My 15 yr old daughter and I are looking to go to Spain next February, week of the 20th. We intend to land in Barcelona a spend a few days there and then head to Madrid then Seville. Any other suggestions. We are only there a week. Any suggestions about hotels would be great too. Thank you

Too much for one week if you like to see anything of the places you visit, you need at least 3 nights in Barcelona to scratch the surface, same goes for the other destinations, every time you move you'll loose at least 1/2 day, also jet lag might be a hinderance the first day or two.

I think with a day trip or two you can spend the whole time in Barcelona and actually enjoy it, if it has to be 2 cities I would fly to Barcelona and get an open jaw/multi city ticket out of Seville or Madrid, I spend 3 nights in Barcelona last Feb and didn't even come close to see everything I wanted to, for me that's no problem I'm there in around 2 hours and my last flight costs 25,-- € return, but I wouldn't try to cover NYC, DC plus Virginia Beach in one week.

Can't predict the weather, but we drove Lisbon - Germany over Madrid one year in the middle of May and temps were around 9°C that's 48°F with constant rain so we droped our stay in Madrid.

You do not give any ideas about costs or facilities you want in your hotel suggestions. I would suggest you look at Booking.com and you can filter what you want from your stay.

As above just pick 2 of the 3 and remember Madrid can be quite cold in winter

Another one thinking too many places in one week.

Would also suggest two out of the three.

We've got a road trip planned for next year and have already decided to leave Barcelona for another time rather than trying to rush things. Still got four destinations in mind to visit over two weeks, but that's just in Andalucía - we fly in and out of Malaga. No overnights anticipated in Malaga as flight times are potentially in our favour at the moment.

Apart from flights and Granada (plus Alhambra), virtually nothing else is being booked. We'll be travelling hand luggage only and just going with the flow...

Will second www.booking.com for booking accomodation in advance though - used this site both hear in the UK and in Portugal last year with no real problems (one of the places we stayed in was a bit below par, but as I booked it and the price was low we decided to live with it...).

Enjoyed all of my trips to Spain so far - still got good memories of a good week walking in Andalucia a few years ago...

If you're going to be visiting for a week only... stick to one destination and if necessary (!) make day escapades. There is much more to see/do than the cities themselves, you know!

Should you choose Barcelona... know that a week is barely enough to really see the city and do everything you can do. Obviously, it all depends on your tastes and likes and on your openness to engage into activities. But even if you feel a week is too much, there are plenty of other sites you can visit on day escapades, just a short train or bus ride away. I don't know about you, but not having to pack/unpack more than strictly necessary (once is preferred!), change hotels and waste time on airport/train lounges --or keeping all this hassle to a minimum-- is a must for me when I travel. I do prefer spending my time seeing and doing, rather than travelling to. Reflect on that when taking your final decision :)

I figured I was trying to cover too much. I know the weather will be iffy. Thought maybe just Barcelona and then go to Sitges. Maybe the fly back from Madrid is an option. Thanks!
