| heffersnork19:02 UTC21 Jan 2013 | Help! My beau would like to extend our trip (see spain and Portugal 6-week road trip) down the mediterranean coast (Valencia and along south) I'd like to go slow in andalucia and go as far north up the coast of Portugal/Spain as possible. Can anyone give me good arguments to skip the med coast? or convince me that this is the way to go.

Usually the water there is cooler than 9in the Mediterranean, but the region is also somewhat less touristic. IMHO, a geat part of the Mediterranean coast is not very interesting. Exceprions are the Costa Brava, the part between Blanés and the french border, and the area east of Almeria, Cabo de Gato. On the other hand some of the towns and cities are very interesting: Malaga, Valencia, Barcelona and smaller villages in between. The spanish part of the Atlantic coast, from the rio Miño to the french border near San Sebastian, is very scenic, although the weather is not as predictable nice as at the Med.
