South Myanmar Itinerary for 2 WeeksCountry forums / South-East Asia Mainland / Myanmar
Hi All - I'm currently in Yangon after a week of travel in Myanmar (Mandalay/Bagan/Yangon) and now have a little under 2 weeks to see the south of the country. I have a vague of where I'd like to go but would love some input about the far south of the country. General idea is: Kyaitko (2 days) I was thinking about heading south from Dawei to Mergui but it sounds like there may be limited things available to do down there still (especially without paying $$$$). Plus, it'd make it a long journey back to Yangon to catch my flight. Was curious if anyone knew otherwise about Mergui or had any other recommendations for south of Dawei, or somewhere in that vicinity. Thank you in advance!
There is nowhere to visit between Myeik and Dawei. Between Dawei and Moulemein is a town called Ye, which seems to be worth a day or 2 of your time. I'm going there myself in a few weeks time. To travel from Myeik back to Yangon in 1 go is a very long journey, around 20ish hours by Bus! Have a look at Southernmyanmar.com you will find some info about Ye on there. Good luck | 1

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll start looking at Ye. For hpa-an, it looks like pretty much all accommodation is booked in the next few days. At least on booking, agoda, etc. Think I'd have any trouble showing up and grabbing a room from an offline guesthouse? Not too picky about the dibs. | 3
Having cycled through Hpa-an not long ago (on my way to Yangon)- you won't have any problem getting a room after you arrive. Booking.com etc all seem to advertise the most expensive rooms. I found there were much cheaper options (even in the same guesthouses) when I arrived. | 4
