Sound problem with language CD

I am using-without sound, so far- a German language CD, "Begegnung in Leipzig", from the Open University.

I was asked if I wanted to download Quicktime-and downloaded it. However, I am getting no sound. Whatever I have tried to do doesn’t make the sound work. Please can you advise? What can I check? What should I be doing? Should I use another sound player?

Can you see from looking at the files on CDROM what file format the sound files are?

I assume sound normally works on your PC when you try sites like youtube etc

Is this your computer or just Quick Time?

If your computer, check the audio is not muted using the icon on the bottom right. For some reason it sometimes happens without anyone doing it.

If Quick Time, use (download) another player. Sometimes some files are incompatible with some players.

Winamp is good for quality of sound. VLC player for loudness if a laptop without speakers. I never use Quick Time for anything.
