We are going to Langkawi and Penang in february 2008. 4-6 days each location. Can somebody recommend good places to go snorkelling with my boy (8 y)?

I can't think any good place for snorkeling in Penang, however, in Langkawi, you should go to Rebak island. One of the best spot in Malaysia. You have to take ferry from Langkawi. Hope that's help..

| samfan12118:13 UTC19 Jun 2007 | Avoid Penang for snorkelling. I was there in April and no one could go in the water due to huge numbers of jellyfish. The water here is not particularly clear either.

I went to snorkel at Payar island outside Langkawi when I was there in March last year. Here is my trip report with pictures, links and videos and I hope you can find some useful info there. They dumped some chicken and stuff in the water after lunch and small sharks came to feed and I have to say that it was a bit exciting snorkeling with the sharks :-) Get in touch if you have any questions :-)
