Small group adventures

Country forums / Central America / Belize

Hi all,
I'm heading to Belize for the first time on my own in December and am wanting to do a small group adventure tour for about a week to 10 days in the rainforest before spending a bit of time scuba diving. Could anyone recommend a good tour operator for the forest - I'm a 29 year old girl and don't want to be trapped on a bus with the blue-rinse set, but would like to meet others my age and have a fairly active trip (hiking, canoeing etc). Wildlife would be a big plus.

Also, can anyone recommend a good dive operator out of Ambergris Caye, and are there any that do short liveaboard trips or is it just as easy to take day trips?

Cheers!

For more extreme adventures, such as trips to Doyle's Delight (highest peak in Belize, think it's 6 days) and a weeklong Maya Divide trip, get in touch with Bruno Kuppinger at SunCreek Lodge (http://www.suncreeklodge.de) near Punta Gorda.

Other than weeklong live aboard trips on Belize Agressor and Peter Hughes boats out of Belize City, there aren't any dive live aboards that I know of. Well, a couple of the sailing charters offer diving. Also, there's a camping/sailing/snorkeling trip offered by Raggamuffin Tours from Caye Caulker to Placencia, but I don't think they do any diving.

@Lan
You are right, Raggamuffin doesn't do any diving and they are based out of Caye Caulker. Frenchie's is a dive shop out of CC as well but as far as i know they don't do any liveabord trips either.

Check out Mayawalk tours at www.mayawalk.com for the jungle tours. I did my Tikal trip with them and can recommend their service! We had a great time, group of 8 in total and all aged between 25 and 35. :)

Happy Trails,
Tuff
