Situation for British passport holdersCountry forums / Middle East / Iran
Dear fellows, Perhaps, this question has been asked very frequently, but I guess it always need some updates... . So, does anybody have any update of the latest situation for British people, if they still need to be accompanies by tour guide in Iran? Thanks a lot!
In theory, yes. In reality quite a lot of people have posted the opposite(or at least, ways around it)....do a search on here for recent posts. | 1
Yes, People using UK passports do need guides or to join a tour. This has been the requirement for the past three or four years. During 2016 a number of people reported that they had found an agency that did not follow the rules, but that loophole has now closed so don't even bother asking for details. There are plenty of posts in the Iran branch on this topic. | 2
I did a lot of research about trying to avoid needing a guide. But in the end, there seemed to be no way to do it without taking risks that simply didn't seem worth taking. I'd rather not spend the whole trip worrying bout how to avoid getting caught out. As emmeff said, the 'easy' way via agency loopholes no longer exists. | 3
Yes, People using (United Kingdom, United State, Australia) passports do need guides or to join a tour. | 4
@HugoCarlosSilva -- Australians do not need a guide. Information on travel to Iran suffers from enough contradictory information as it is. Please don't add to the confusion. | 5

Can I add a question here for anyone that may know? I am a dual Australia/UK citizen. Should I have any issues obtaining a visa on arrival on my Australian passport? I'm wanting to assume that Iranian immigration will not want to see both? Thanks in advance for any ideas. | 7
No,if you have two passports, just show the one you want to use...the Australian one in this case. | 8
