Most agents on Phuket will be able to manage your booking for you. AFAIK, there are also a couple of ops departing from Burma proper, but you would have to book locally, I believe.

| stevenl10:59 UTC03 Sep 2007 | I don't think there are any trips leaving from Burma itself.
From Thailand there are a few though, from 5 days/5 nights till longer trips. In general the visibility in March/April is ok, not too good because of the plankton in the water, but that has again other advantages.
Check out: Santana, Jazz, Giamani for reasonably affordable Burma trips. Keep in mind that there is also the Burma Fee of 150 US$.

| quero13:23 UTC03 Sep 2007 | I don't have first-hand experience with this Myanmar-based op, but apparently they ran LOB trips last season right from Burma. And this company seems to organize daytrips....
Logistically, it would probably be easier from Thailand, however.

| stevenl13:47 UTC03 Sep 2007 | Ah, some new options, did not know that. Both are close to the Thai border, so quite easy to reach.

| batfish09:55 UTC05 Sep 2007 | Burma fee is now 200 US$. Quite a few options. There are only a few boats that do "pure" Burma trips such as the Faah Yai, Colona 2 and Jazz. Most others do combination Similan/Burma trips.

| dterner117:49 UTC28 Sep 2007 | I was on the Mermaid II last March for a week at the Burma Banks, we set off from Phuket, but a bus took us up to the Burmese border, where we boarded the boat for that trip. I did another week on it from there (after the Burma Banks) to the Similans.... and I can recommend them heartily. www.blackmanta.com does a Burma run I believe... one of its owners was on last year's trip, mapping out the best dive sites with a BPS, and I heard from their ex-DM, Warren, that they had a lot of great runs. Question is, I guess, what now with the unrest in Yangon, right? CHECK. The White Manta and the Black Manta both used to go there... but ask. :) Good luck. There was really nice pristine diving there, and like stevel said, while maybe not evian, it's great viz wise. D

| stevenl09:43 UTC29 Sep 2007 | Mermaid II, White Manta and Black Manta don't go to Burma.
Whether you want to go there (safety plus political reasons) is of course another question.
