Short trip to Alhama de Granada

Country forums / Western Europe / Spain

Hello! Its been a while since I was on this forum, I did a few trips around South America and I remember getting some great advice on here.

Now I want to plan a short trip (5 days) and spend it in a quiet place where I can relax, meet new people, and practice my Spanish. I plan on flying into Malaga and renting a car. I have earmarked Alhama de Granada based on information I have found, and looking to spend most of the time there.

I am not looking for a million activities or a busy city, I want to wander around, get a break from the madness of London. Drink coffee/beer in street cafes and talk to locals.

What I really want to know is whether or not it is a busy enough place to really meet people and make friends. I want to make connections with whom I can practice Spanish (and vice-versa help with English) that last long after I have left. I managed this in Colombia and Argentina but Spain is a very different place in my experience(however this is mostly based on cities).

Open to other ideas, hopefully my aim/objective is clear and not too difficult to achieve!

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Chris

Note that Population Alhama de Granada only 6.126 inhabitans . Go to Spa and then a walk through the village but I think you should go somewhere else to talk with local people and make friends .

You could try language exchange, you can find everyday in Malaga and maybe Granada. They are for free.

Thanks Almono,

I have adjusted this trip hugely as now I am going to take a bus up to Cordoba instead.

Hopefully the people are friendly enough to let a dumb Englishman have a chat with them :)
