September 2011 Zurich to Lucerne to Lauterbrunnen to Lacarno to VeniceCountry forums / Western Europe / Switzerland
Our original plan is shown in subject. We are thinking of skipping Lauterbrunnen and spending more time in Lucerne (3 nights) then on to Locarno. Also thinking of skipping Venice (2 nights) and going directly to Rome. From a travel and cost standpoint this may make sense. Is *Lauterbrunnen/Wengen a must see?
It appears this is only part of a larger itinerary. From the sound of it it is a 'If this is Thursday, this must be Belgium' itinerary. That is, too many places in too little time. One of the two commonest mistakes travellers make. The second is packing too much. How's your packing list? I have been to all of the places you name in your thread. Staying in Lauterbrunnen I could easily suggest enough to occupy you for a week or more. The same is true of all the places you name. Are any of them 'must sees', who knows what you would consider a must see? Quantity is not quality beaconridge and it is a common mistake to confuse the two. Here is my minimum reccommended stay for each place you have mentioned. (assuming a normal amount of interest in the normally considered interesting things. I have no idea what you consider a must see.) Zurich, 4 nights/3 days. Lucerne, 4 nights/3 days. Lauterbrunnen, 7 nights/6 days. Locorno (I would change to Ascona) 5 nights/4 days. Venice 7 nights/6 days. Rome, 7 nights/6 days. Florence, 7 nights/6 days. How much time were you planning for them all in total? | 1
You got a lot of useful answers during the whole month of May. It's now up to you to decide what you skip and what you add. | 2
