Sending gifts to Iran

Country forums / Middle East / Iran

Hi guys,

I was travelling through Iran last year and had the pleasure to be invited to stay at a family home for two nights. Since they were really generous and I did not have much to offer in return, I am thinking about sending them a parcel with some stuff from Germany (no alcohol, no pork). And ideally, it should be a surprise for them.

I could imagine that this parcel would be openend and checked by the authorities in Iran. And of course I don't want to bring this family into any trouble. Does anyone know, if it causes any trouble for a family to receive such a package from abroad?

Thanks
Stefan
