Seeking budget lodging ideas in Busan (Pusan)

Hi there! Is there anybody here currently living in Busan (Pusan) or knowing the city well that I can talk to?

I am going to attend an event in Haeundae-Gu during first week of October 2008 and this will be my first trip to South Korea. Do you have any good suggestions or advices on the lodging there? It can be away from Haeundae-Gu area as long as there's a nearby subway.

Also, where is the fun hang out place located in Busan? (those must-visit-or-you-will-be-regret places, haha! - for food, bars, cultural, art, etc.)

There are a couple of hostels in Busan that are OK - I've only stayed at Blue and, as hostels go, it was pretty nice.

There are literally thousands of cheap motels (모텔), hotels, minbak (민박) and (for longer-term stays) yogwan and goshiwan in Busan - and a whole raft of them just behind Haeundae Beach. You can probably just rock up and take your pick...prices will start around 20,000 and go up into the stratosphere.
