Seasonal Jobs -selection process

Country forums / Australia, New Zealand & Antarctica / New Zealand

Hi Peeps,

I wish to head to NZ (from Australia) in Feb/March next year for an indefinite amount of time. I was wondering what the selection process is for the seasonal work available. What experience, if any, is required for the fruit picking type jobs etc?

P

You'll need a strong back and a weak mind.

Hmm, that sounds like me. :-P

Picking fruits not exactly rocket science. Now, tobacco grading was. 12 grades and all looked the bloody same!!
Back to topic, Seasonal work.

New Zealand has the lowest unemployment in the world (or something!). Orchardists and vineyard owners can not find enough people to pick fruit. In some cases the fruit ends up rotting on the trees because there is no one to pick it. So the only requirement to get a job is to be willing to give it a go!

Thanks Kateww... That's what I like to hear! :-)

willingness to climb up ladders to pick apples in the pouring down rain.

and you must accept that its the truth when the maori lady tells you that you are colourblind and that the apples you claim are red, are actually green.

lieing cow! how dare she question my ability to distinguish between red and green.

PS, i like the new green background on Thorntree.
