seafood in Portland

Country forums / United States of America / United States

Visiting family in Portland, they're putting me up for about a week.....It's my birthday (guess when I'll be there...) They are insisting on paying for my airfare. So....

Grew up in San Francisco, now live in Denver....seafood is erm, not done well here....yet Portland is within 100 miles of the coast. Looking for a splurge (see above). Family semi-serious foodies, I'm looking to make decent recommendation w/o their help..yet they have well-behaved wee one less than 3 years old. Not sure if my nephew will be joining us on splurge nite until I get there.

Anyone have recommendations for restaurants that do seafood well, without necessarily being a strictly "seafood place?" Might need to be "family friendly" and even if not, all of us would prefer food over "overdone atmosphere" (read: fun/funky/GOOD food, could be hole in the wall). Must be in Portland or close by, not the coast.

Budget: About $30-ish/each for entrees....they don't drink....much... so slightly more might work.

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks.

oooh yeah and...busy looking at Chowhound...
