Sarangkot/taxi up/walk back/overnight hotelCountry forums / Indian Subcontinent / Nepal
OK, the questions are starting for my planned trip in November, I'm an active 66yr old and taking non-trekking wife and friend but would love to do at least a bit of capable exercise and a bit of walking. Question One. I don;t want to walk back down the road but have heard that there is an alternative track that may go thru a village or too but also read that it could have "problems": Is this a good idea or bad? Any reference material to maps or routes and its suitability etc. Thinking of leaving our main luggage in Pokhara and just taking up a basic day pack to make the walk back easier. Any pros/cons Question Two: Considering we are staying overnight any recommendations for a mid priced hotel. Also if we select the right hotel would it be easier/better just to have the views from the hotel balcony or do we have to join the crowds at the viewing platform Question Three; Considering we are staying at a hotel does the taxi take us right to the door or does it involve a bit of walking Question Four: If the walk down or the women don't want to do it can I possibly rent a bike from the top and leave it at Pokhara. Would coming down via para-glider also be an option. Thanks for any help
Taxis go to the hotels at Sarangkot. You can waldk down on a direct trail to Lakeside, lots of tourists hike this trail everyday. | 1
I rode a bicycle up before sunrise and rolled back down and I was the only one doing it. I doubt you can find bike hire in Sarangkot. I believe you can paraglide down with prior arrangement. A string of hotels lie on the km long ridge so many of them have roof/balcony offering sunrise/sunset viewing opportunities | 2
