Sao Tome and Principe , travel with kids

Country forums / Africa

Dear All good afternoon ,
we are invited to an amazing wedding in Sao Tome and Principe and we are thinking about..
I would like to have some information from whom was travelling there with kids.
My main concern is regarding Malaria´s prophylaxis vaccinations .Is it necessary there for a journey 10 days long ?
It is recommended by WHO but I would like to avoid to vaccinate my 7 years old daughter if is not strictly necessary.
I will inform myself to the German Health Traveler Office but I will appreciate any comments from your side .
Thank you!

You don't get a vaccination against malaria, you take pills, either daily or weekly, depending on what sort you take.
First, you need to talk to your doctor or a travel clinic about which ones will be best for you.

You do need protection against malaria, have a look at this malaria map

Dear Kaz,
you are right ! Malaria has not vaccination but prophylaxis!
Thank you a lot for your additional info .
For sure I will be in touch with a travel clinic and our doctor .
Viele Danke !
