San Pedro Sula to Copan, Copan to Nicaragua?Country forums / Central America / Honduras
I am flying into San Pedro Sula on Feb 14th at noon, headed to Copan. Does anyone know if Hedman Alas requires reservations, or will I be able to just show up to purchase my ticket? Any idea at the ticket price? I've tried emailing them off their website but it came back to me saying Delivery Failed. Also, my biggest dilemna: I was planning on taking TicaBus to get to Granada on Saturday, Feb. 27th. I just realized TicaBus departs San Pedro Sula at 5AM. I'll have to spend a night in San Pedro Sula Friday, and catch the 5AM bus. Does anyone know an alternative to get from Copan to Nicaragua? Totally new at this, and realized this with less then 2 weeks to go. My beginner's level of spanish has me somewhat worried when it comes to transportation. If anyone has any tips on transportation or a cheap hostel/hotel near the TicaBus station I would most certainly appreciate it!
You shouldn't need reservations. Hedman Alas has a little office on the left as you leave the airport, across from where the cabs queue up. I think the price on the Hedman shuttle to the bus station and on to Copán is $20. If your timing won't allow for the shuttle, grab a cab; used to be $10 - not sure now - plus $10 from the station to Copán. Can't help with the rest, but have a great trip! | 1
I've bookmarked the Tamarindo Hostel in San Pedro Sula for future reference but haven't stayed there myself. 5 years ago our trip was cut short because of a family emergency back home; we stayed at the Metrotel (was a Microtel at the time) before an early flight - clean and safe, not much charm and many times the price of the Tamarindo but served us well. | 2
Thanks so much for the info. I sent an email last night to Tamarindo Hostel. I got a response from Hotel el Almendral, which says a room is $55 a night and a good 15 minutes away from the bus stations. Tica Bus leaves at 5am to Nicaragua, and my main concern is getting to San Pedro Sula on time, and being able to get a taxi in the morning to catch this Tica Bus. | 3

The little mototaxis (they call them tuktuks in Guatemala) will be waiting at the bus station which is just a few blocks outside of town. It should take just a couple of minutes to get to the school which is 2 or 3 blocks west of the parque central. Kathy is such a dear person - please give her a hug from me (Stacey) and tell her that I miss her. Have a wonderful time and please tell us all about it! | 5
Great, thanks so much! And glad to hear I'll be in good hands. I will tell her you say hello, thanks Stacey! | 6
