San Blas to Bocas? Possible by sea?Country forums / Central America / Panama
Hi All, I am planning an excursion to Panama for a group of friends. We are flying from CR. I really don't wish to back track. Is there any way to get from San Blas to Bocas by water? Any ideas on rough itinerary for each place (ie. 7 days are far too many in Panama City...)? Also, any suggestions on which islands to visit and where to stay on the San Blas islands? The group consists of couples and singles in early 30's who like a mix of adventure, party, r&r and other interesting travelers. Mid range price range, although, cool with budget as long as it's safe, clean and interesting. Any info would be much appreciated. We have done similar journeys through CR and MX, although we rented a jeep on both other excursions. Thanks in advance!!
Hi, some boats, like mine. :) do trips like these between San Blas and Bocas del Toro. I did a one-way just like this but in reverse last year. The trip usually takes about 4-5 days, depending on stops. The usual stops between San Blas and Bocas are: Portobelo (but I usually just pass this one, not worth the stop IMO) I recommend adding a couple of nights and sailing around San Blas before leaving San Blas. This lets you see the islands and get a broader view of the area. Best bet is to get there, spend a couple days on an island at a Kuna hotel or lodge, then start the sail. I have several Kuna contacts in San Blas for lodging options. Just follow the web link on my profile or PM me. Hope this helps! | 1
